I hate to start any review off with a negative, but once I logged in to the member’s area at Devil’s Pen I wasn’t instantly transferred over to the hub of the site. Instead, I had to select it from a drop down menu of sites that were a part of the larger network.

I’d comment on the lack of update information with respect to dates on the content but at the end of the day, Devil’s Pen does tell you straight up that the content isn’t actually produced by them. I can’t tell you if anything fresh is coming in to this site, but the archive should be large enough to enjoy for a good few months. In terms of structure, the member’s area is very basic. The site’s content is distributed over 8 archive pages of comic strips with 20 shown on each page. The sets are represented with two thumbnails of the first and second images with a simple link to view the whole set. Sadly, no content description is given on any of the archive pages and there’s nothing else on the site.

The Content

Overall, the content was good. Devil’s Pen has a fine collection of content from some very talented artists. Sets dwindled between resolutions, color choice and depth but most kept a standard number of 16 ‘pages’ per collection. I sampled 7 different sets and found them all to have a different resolution ranging from 789 x 445 pixels to 979 x 683 pixels. The content was true to the niche promised although no zipped photo sets or slide shows are offered.

Conclusion

Devil’s Pen is a good place to find BDSM comics although the site does lack a lot of depth. You do get access to around 30 bonus sites when you join but the only one that links to DevilsPen.com is Shocking BDSM – all the others focus on more mainstream niches and standard fetishes. All in all, a respectable site with some fun content that can be enjoyed. If comics and weird pornography is your thing, be sure to give this site a chance.

I was impressed to see that the site has updates dating back all the way to
2000. It currently updates with new content around 5 times a week though the
overall navigation in the member’s area is something that could be improved. The
links along the left hand side of the page are; what’s new, artists’ gallery, 3D
artists, feature comics, 3D movies, topic section, stories, new on board,
dofantasy, links, contact us and cancel membership. If you want to jump straight
in on the action you have to click ‘artists’ gallery’, all of the comics are
hosted here. There are 38 ‘areas’ in total to choose from, each one has unique
content and focuses on a specific niche. Again, the overall setup of the site is
somewhat confusing and I found it hard to work out exactly how the content was
organized.

Giving a suggestion as to how many photos are on the site is pretty much
impossible. The style of archiving is weird and the sets vary from 5 to 100
pictures per set. Sadly, no zipped photo sets are available but a slideshow
comes with most scenes that makes the flow of reading much better. It appears
that BDSM Artwork takes advantage of using multiple content producers. By the
looks of things there’s a solid team of artists behind the site who love their
work. While on some sites you may actively seek linear content format, it’s fair
to say that the varied style of art is a bonus in this particular niche – it
shows dedication from the workers and provides you with several styles of
drawing.

Conclusion!

The feel of the website is best described as one of those Indy skateboarding
movies. They may not have the best boards and be anything close to tony hawks,
but there’s a pact between the guys that produces some quality media. I
recommend joining BDSM Artwork if you like the niche, although the navigation
sucks, the content is good and you’ll feel right at home.
